Job Description: | Job responsibilities
• Responsible for installing and managing Solaris Servers on SPARC and X86 Machines.
• Upgrade and troubleshoot Solaris hardware and Operating software issues.
• Trouble shooting server based problems with root cause analysis.
• Carry out the advance level of trouble shooting on Solaris OS and applications.
• Work in a 24 X 7 Environment (NOC).
• Configuration of Solaris cluster.
• Extend technical support the Clients over email as well as phone.
• Responsible for the uptime of the various client projects being managed / monitored.
• Ensure that the Tickets raised per shift are closed in the required time limits and if not escalated as per the escalation Matrix defined.
• Raise and also update the tickets in CRM for all the issues handled / worked upon.
• Shift report generation on daily issues handled / escalated in the form of Daily reports.
• Work on the change request and new Installations.
• Apply patches to the OS / applications or upgrade the applications as and when required, as per the approval from the respective Team Leaders.
• Monitoring & Management of Backup Application.
• Support applications like Sendmail, FTP, SFTP
• Conduct audits on the setups done by the fellow engineers to make sure that the setup being handed over to the customer is up to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Ensure earlier resolution to the issues to meet SLA.
• Following up with Vendors – hardware & software whenever required & resolve issues by minimizing downtimes."
Skill required "• Minimum of 2-4 years administration experience on multiple variants of Linux.
• Good hands on experience on Sun Sparc Platform with Solaris 8,9and 10 operating systems.
• Experience in Mid range/Enterprise Servers Hardware & OK Prompt
• Support to L1 & L2 for System build issues on jumpstart for Solaris.
• Experienced in Production Server Environment with SUN Sparc (with Solaris 8 & 10) & Intel servers.
• H/W Console Administration
• Strong Knowledge about user administration and File system management activities.
• Experience in OS Hardening, performance and kernel tuning.
• Knowledge on LDOM’s, ZONE’s, and Cluster.
• Knowledge on ZFS, VxVM and SVM.
• Experience in Virtual File systems and Core dumps.
• Knowledge on Naming services (DNS, NIS, NIS+, and LDAP).
• Knowledge on scripting and vendor tools.
• Knowledge on backup solutions (HP Data Protector).
• Knowledge on Jumpstart, System Backups and Restores (Including UFS snapshots).
• Basic knowledge on HP Storage and SAN switches.
• Knowledge on performance and volume manager.
• Patch management, RCA analysis, Application installs and upgrades following procedures documented by application owners Meeting SLA in time to fix the errors and problems.
• Knowledge of Cluster Administration.
• Basic Knowledge on Virtualization.
• Basic knowledge on other unix flavours.
• Basic knowledge on Monitoring tools like HPOVO, Sitescope.etc."
